yea, it's fair to assume they could be lying though their teeth, but why the fuck would Finland have assumed that Russia have wanted to take Finland next?

And why would they think NATO would have stopped it?
NATO probably would have have retaliated, but far from guaranteed they would have stopped an invasion that Russia never said they were even interested in
Now Finland not only has to fund NATO (and if Trump is re-elected, has to carry their own weight) but is also bound to be the errand bitch of Germany-run NATO

Essentially Fins are conservative with their money, and management practices through necessity, and socially they are extremely helpful to others IRL, also through necessity, i.e., harsh weather. The recent abomination of allowing young party-loving women to parliament, who proceed to be the worst war-mongers, may soon have serious backlash. Also, Finland has a Russian population, as they have a Swedish one and a rural Lap one.
The Russians are on the same page re: public values, yet the NATO shenanigans are now bringing Russian troops and equipment and men to the border.
