Hell, half of them don't even require a dissertation (Education being a standout one in this regard). Just take some classes, regurgitate the propaganda, and you're a "doctor".

And yet, it is in education where I have seen a very high number of people with PhDs insist on being called 'doctor'.

When one particularly annoying leftist PhD demanded I refer to them as doctor, I asked if they addressed every lawyer they talk to as 'doctor', including the one that was in the room?

The asshat just stammered and walked away.
