You are correct about the anons, but the media does only refer to Q as Qanon as a way to obfuscate. They know the drops are signed “Q” & they know that Q is real.
They've always referred to the account as "QAnon". Are you saying they've always used that term as a way to obfuscate (even though anons were using it before the media), or that they didn't change their term as a way to obfuscate. I find the second option a hard sell.

QAnon media interpretation was mainstream after it was widely known that Q was.... Q.
And yes it continues to this day.
The point remains that the reason it continues to this day is the very reason I posted it.
