Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
So yeah, just got done performing at the open mic night at a local comedy club, and it went quite well. My opening story about the criminals being transferred/it being like air canada had the audience laughing from the get-go, and the owner asked me if I wanted to stop by next month and try it again. Can definitely see why people will find it scary, as you never know which joke will bomb.
Very awesome.
More than a decade ago I was really into the burgeoning comedy podcaster scene... Before it got big, polished and, let's just say, not interesting to me anymore.
They talked about the rigors of stand-up constantly, so I have an understanding of the craft and it's challenges. It's one of those things that takes a ton of work to make it look easy. And the psychological strength to perform is something I'm vaguely familiar with, but definitely not in the context of being live, on stage. Takes guts.
So congratulations. I'm glad you are honing your voice. š
Excellent! Congratulations on doing so well. Great that you've already been asked back. I don't know what you mean by that story, maybe you've told it here before? But I don't want you to dox yourself, so just leave it at that. Anyway, this is great news and I bet you're floating on air right now. Very happy for you.
Bah, I've revealed my location tons of times on here.
Yeah, apparently they're thinking of making a super-prison in northern BC with the idea that if anyone escaped it'd be like alcatraz. With all of these people stripped of their basic human rights flying on planes, it'll be hard to seperate it from Air Canada. Mind you they'd probably add a nominal fee for that kind of stuff. "So you want a burlap sack over your head while you're chained to the seat? That'll be $15."
Seems like you hit a chord there. People knew what you meant. That's encouraging. Wish we all could have seen your set. I'm really excited for you. Keep us posted on your gig next month, too. (If you want to.)
separate :-)
Congratulations! Iām so glad you got back to this us on this. Seems like a fun hobby and something you could enjoy doing. Good luck next time.
