Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment

-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
I was going to make this long talk a topic of its own, but didn't think it was relevant enough to the Q mission to warrant it. But I felt it was noteworthy anyway.
I started watching an anime called Jobless Reincarnation (Mushoku Tensei).
At the end of the fourth episode, we are introduced to a really tall, dark-skinned, one-eyed really buff catgirl.
...Named Ghislaine. It's even pronounced correctly in the English dub.
Being a long-time anime fan, I had heard of the character, but didn't know she was from THIS series.
Why am I telling you this? At this point in the story, the main character, though in his thirties before death and literal rebirth (the first episode shows him being born), is in the body of a seven-year-old.
Knowing what I know now, this made me wary.
I should note, however, that the Japanese novels this series was based on first came out in 2012, long before any of us knew who Ghislaine Maxwell was. This could all be a complete coincidence, the author just thinking the name sounded cool and exotic. I've been there...long story.
Think all the Christian symbolism in Neon Genesis Evangelion, a series I adore, which wasn't really symbolism at all--the creators just thought it made for some great visuals. Which it does.
Regardless, from what I can tell without getting into spoiler territory--again, I'm only four episodes in--we also have zero reason to believe the Ghislaine character will do anything even remotely untoward with children. The main character was a pervert in his past life, yes, but he at least knows to keep a handle on it around other actual people, and is making an honest effort to be a better person now.
And I have to say, I'm really enjoying the show so far. I'll keep you updated as I watch more of the first season.
My point?
Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
Cool story bro. Seriously, I liked reading it. 😃
I've got a passing familiarity with anime, but mostly the old "classics", 90s and before, and of course the Ghibli blockbusters, Death Note, etc. I've seen Neon, but pre-awakening. Loved it, but due a rewatch.
All this to say I like that you have eyes on this area. It's gotten so large, and is so influential to the youth these days.
Also, I've got Perfect Blue on my radar as it was recommended as similar to Twin Peaks, my favorite show and one I believe is chock full of "insider comms". David Lynch is well aware of human trafficking - it's a huge part of his work.
