Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area

Random thought / question. The last two nights on Nora O'Donnell and David Muir they have talked about how bottled water may be so dangerous due to micro plastics. Me assuming everything they say is a lie got me to thinking. Since the WEF recently said there would be a problem with water that would get our attention, and the whole "watch the water" thing, do you think they want normies to stop buying bottled water so 1) they aren't prepared for the upcoming man made and "natural" disasters they have planned for us and 2) they intend to contaminate the water supply and or stop the supply of water so they get sick? And before anyone asks why I was watching those shows, my husband is still asleep. I watch with him and drop little truth bombs whenever I can.
I think you got it. Good analysis
Bless your heart must be exhausting having a sleepy husband. You could be on to something though. For them to be telling people to avoid the bottled water speaks volumes. I always do opposite of what they say. I have a water pitcher that catches alot of contaminants and alkalines the water. Soon as it finishes I move it to a glass pitcher. I even give it to my dog and cat. I hope that it is doing what it says it does.
What’s the name of your filter water pitcher. I’m sick of buying bottled water. Most of the time my water smells like a swimming pool. I refuse to cook with it. It’s just a hassle carrying that bulk from the store to car, from the car to the house. I can’t talk hubby into getting a filter for the house. We normally agree on most things but if he says no on something he has to physically do I let it go.
It’s called the Hskyhan Pitcher set. I looked around for a while before I bit the bullet and bought it. It’s reasonably priced and so far I like it. The water taste good to me.
Thanks I’m tired of bottled water. Don’t mind using it just takes up a lot of room and my house is very small, built in 46. Two bedroom 1 bath we remodeled the entire house. I think hubby wants a water jug deal.
It sounds like you are close to the source water treatment plant. Try putting water in a pitcher. The chlorine will off gas. If you put it in something with a screw on lid the gas will wind up occupying the container "head space" I used to open my waster bottle and blow the residual chlorine gas out before drinking it.
I’m not sure how close I am to the water filtration place. The rivers are just dirty! You can’t expect good water when you are pumping sewage in the river. Of course it’s filtered but it’s still 💩 in the river. It’s for the sewage trucks that pump out septic tanks. I’m sure the city sewage goes in the river also. I’m not a tree hugger but dang we could do better. I’ll try that with the water. I do that with my plants guess I could taste it. My taste buds are very sensitive. Don’t have the source about taste buds but it’s interesting. Read years ago people had more or less tast buds or higher sensitivity, can’t remember. My daughter and husband think I’m nuts when I say something is bad. My mom is the same. Got sensitive nose also just like my dad & brother🤣 we can detect things others can’t.
I never fathomed how bad potable water could be until I flew to Chicago for a business trip. The waitress told me it must be my first time since I asked for water & let me know that the soda flavor masked how bad it tasted.
My 2nd glass was filled with a carbonated drink I had not had for over a couple years. It very clearly tasted like pool water.
You may want to look at multiple brands to at least remove the chlorine. I would hope that gets rid of that pool taste/smell. On a side note, chlorine does not smell like the nostalgic pool scent we all know. It is only after urine has been added that the "pool scent" is created
https://waterfilterguru.com/best-water-filter-for-chlorine-removal/ There was a picture listed here.
https://www.realsimple.com/best-water-filter-pitchers-6827844 there seem to be some good options here for various filters to remove chlorine.
There is one that My Patriot Supply offers if you like their options.
Likely removing the chlorine (maybe trichloramine) will be enough to get rid of that smell.
Who knows, maybe if your husband watches that Mark Rober video with you, he may consider a filter option. My parents opted for a kitchen sink under the counter drinking filter. There is also the option to just add a filter to a refrigerator if you have a waterline going into your fridge.
I have to disagree about chlorine smell. I’m not arguing pee might make it smell different. I had an above ground pull almost 15 years and a hot tub longer than that. Straight chlorine out of the bucket is strong and I love the smell because I grew up in pools. I’m weird like that love smell of gas because it reminds of growing up at the lake in the summer. I know smelling gas isn’t safe but it’s in the lake from the boats.
I think I might him him closer to a filter than before he’s tired of lugging water. We disagree about the filter. Most don’t get all the crap out. There’s chlorine and another chemical similar to chlorine. Regular cheaper filters doesn’t get the other chlorine out. Dang just reread your post. Not edited. Yes I think it’s trichloramine.
Another issue is I want entire house filter. The water messes up your clothes and irritates skin and isn’t great for hair. Water bottles really aren’t healthy. Most have flouride and what ever else is coming from the stream or tap. I will say I don’t like plastic but it’s not a game changer. Unless you get your water from a clear high up mountain stream you are getting plastic. Water comes through plastic pipes. I know everyone knows this. Just blows my mind people talk about plastic bottles and not the pipes. Also forever plastics are in the water.
Thanks for the links I’ll check them out.
Edit: If the restaurant doesn’t have a bar I take my own water. It’s against the law to take a beverage into a restaurant with a bar they could loose their liquor license. I prefer room temp water. We have a filter on the fridge. I don’t think it’s great.
