I didn't realize this. I remember the first time my oldest got Scarlet Fever. Instantly my mind went to LIttle House on the Prairie and omg what is this gonna do to my kid?? Turns out that it's just a form of strep throat. He got it 3 times as a kid. And the only thing that happened to him was that his palms would peel 2 weeks after the onset of the scarlet fever. Oh and his genitals got beet red. I associated "scarlet fever" with some deadly disease and I thought his family plans were ruined for life.
