This was posted about the other day and an anon from Switzerland explained it was originally put up with benign origins. However knowing what we know now I can't personally justify such a piece having a place despite whatever contextual merit it may have originally had. And that takes a hell of a lot for me to say as I'm almost universally anti-censorship.
This is the kind of brigading BS I typically expect on r/Politics or some other Leftist hive. No one here has posted any information regarding what this statue is, what it is intended to symbolize, who sculpted it, or the historical context in which it was created. All of these things matter when discussing things like this. But no, someone comes in slapping modern epithets like "pedovore" (why not just call it racist, sexist, anti-gay like the Left do, and then do the same thing they do and tear it down?). We've got to be smarter than this.
I agree. This sort of reactionary, anti-art cultural philistinism is typical of the woke left. The old “lock this piece of cultural history away in a museum where we can put it in proper ‘context’” canard is such a PC reflex I can’t believe I’m hearing it repeated unironically on this board. This sculpture is actually quite based, and is a caricature of exactly the sort of globalist pedovores the Great Awakening is all about exposing. It dates back to a time when European communities were strong and recognized the real enemy. It’s actually amazing it still stands in plain view!
Shhhh, you aren’t supposed to look into things here. Just get mad at what others tell you to be mad at. Appeals to emotions and other such tactics have always and will always have massive success on this website.
