Long story short, I don't microwave anything anymore and today I heated my coffee to the perfect temp (stovetop). Life is good and Klaus Schwab can suck it!
I grew up with out a microwave until they were invented. I can still see my mom’s big smile when she opened it at Christmas. I’ve always had one since then. Also have an air fryer and it’s convenient. I’ve read cooking food that fast in air fryer depletes the nutrients in the food. My argument with that is our food is almost devoid of nutrients. I don’t use it that much. My daughter uses hers for almost everything. I find it aggravating to put the food in the little bitty space.
What’s your reasoning for not having a microwave? Just curious not judging. At least you don’t have to clean one🤣 I’ve heard they aren’t good for us. I haven’t studied it mainly because seems like some group is saying something is dangerous.
I have a microwave and I just got a brand new air fryer and I’m stoked. I’m trying out recipes as I go along, but I really like it for making bacon and just reheating my bacon. I didn’t get one that has all the bells and whistles on it. Mine just has knobs and I love it. I don’t have to program it just to make food. 👏👏👏
I don’t know if I replied 🤦🏻♀️ it’s been crazy being sick. Try mozzarella string cheese wrapped in bacon. I don’t remember temperature and time. I think 350-400. Put foul underneath because cheese ozzzes. Took longer in mine than the guy in video he was using different brabd. I have instant pot brand. Nothing fancy.
👍
Cool! Glad you are enjoying it. Maybe you can teach me some things. My toaster oven can air fry but I haven’t figured it out. It’s more like a convection oven than air fry, heck it might do both. My 30 year old toaster oven died a couple years ago, actually it was half dead about 5 years ago but it still toasted bread. All the regular ones looked like a kids toy so cheap. I have the instapot air fryer. Just one knob but push digital buttons for time, temp, type of cooking. I’m sure if I used it more i’d fall in love. I’ve seen lots of people cooking ribeyes in them. I just can’t. I like my steak grilled or on the blackstone. My hubby has become a master griller. He finds deals on Facebook and Walmart. He’s got pellet grill & holland grill (don’t make those anymore) in addition to the blackstone. Sometimes he’s got something going on both grills.
Everything’s better on the grill hands down. We have a grill, but we don’t use it as much as we should. It’s just me and my mom though, so there’s that.
We still have a toaster oven, and use it for toast 🤣😂
But I’m new to the whole air fryer situation. We almost got the Insta pot air fryer lid, but decided to get the whole unit. Let me know how that would works out for you.
I want to use my air fryer for heating up things like reheating, french fries, or cooking, fresh, french fries, egg, rolls, making bacon and stuff like that. I think you can do a lot more than what I want it for. I want things cooked well, but I want them crispy. The microwave doesn’t do crispy. 🤨
I tried one for a couple of years, but it sat unused most of the time except for melting cheese for nachos. When my son began buying foods that were pre prepared, out of his own money, I got rid of it. He learned to cook, he enjoyed it when he was little, and I was afraid he would stop learning and making real meals from whole foods. He is a good cook now, and he loves to make big meals at least once a week. I work at home and have, since he was little, by renting a room and caring for the disabled person who I rent to, so I have always had the time to cook. I do not have a dishwasher either, I guess I am a stubborn luddite, as he said when he was 7 "maybe we're Amish". lol, no, we are not, but I am a blast from the past when it comes to avoiding a lot of "conveniences".
I love that your son learned to cook. You are a great parent changing the situation for a better lifestyle for your child. I don’t you microwave as much as many people do. Certainly don’t use it to cook. When I see people cooking in the microwave I think it’s more time consuming to keep opening stir and cook a bit, open door stit. Like melting chocolate for desserts. A double broiler is so much more efficient. I’m old school in many ways. I do love convenience like a dishwasher. I could live without the microwave if I had to.
bc microwave nukes out something like half your nutrients
Don’t know if I replied. That’s probably true. There’s so much information online about how to cook to not lose nutrients in food. I never know what’s true. I read cooking food fast like air fryer depletes nutrients. I guess cooking in microwave is faster than air fryer. Yet, air fryer’s are just a tiny convection oven that’s been around many years. Sane with instant pot which is just a pressure cooker. My grandmother always used a pressure cooker. Who knows what’s true🤷🏻♀️ I say do what works for you!
