Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.

In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Happy first full week of February, getting closer every day to spring, or summer if you are in the south. I’m still sick but I believe the worst is behind me. Not ready to do much yet. When I could hold my head up I popped in to catch up.
Anyone been sick in past months?
Would like to know what your experiences were like. This doesn’t seem normal. I’m 56 and have never had a cold like this. Several people I know got sick from October - December and are still not back to normal. One lady constantly sniffles and she was sick at Christmas. Another lady had something similar, she says flu and it took her over a month to recover.
This is the strangest cold I’ve ever experienced. My sil was first, then wife & grandbaby. I probably caught it from the baby. Each person had different symptoms. I can’t figure this out. In the past when viruses run through families everyone has the same symptoms. Sure if you a prone to bad cough your body will get a cough. Where as someone else will have a severe sore throat. But everyone has the same symptoms and one symptom is worse in each person.
My sil & myself had the most similar symptoms but still different. He was very nauseous and couldn’t eat. I could eat but didn’t have the desire. My daughter had very mild cough and headache. The baby had very minor cough and was fussy, she’s normally not fussy unless she’s sleepy. Played and was very happy. I remember when my daughter would get sick she wasn’t playing so I think it was mild for baby maybe because she’s breastfed and eats real foods.
I started out with a sore throat and I rarely get a sore throat. Next day my sinuses were completely blocked even affecting the ears. Then a continuous downhill from there. I thought my cough was coming from lungs. My daughter listened last night with her sthethoscope and my lungs were clear. I guess it was all my throat and esophagus. I sounded like a 90 year old with emphysema or a breathing machine. She said she heard her husband sounded just like that and she thought he had pneumonia. His lungs were clear also. Two days I had chills and body aches. My body has never hurt like this even with 25 years of chronic pain. The biggest aggravation has been the coughing and spitting up phelm. At least it was coming out! It has gone from brown, then green and now yellow. Sinus are still blocked. I sweated all night last night so hopefully it’s coming to an end.
Strangely nothing I have taken has helped. Multiple different types of herbal tea for each symptom, Dimetapp, Robitussin DM, Salt Water gargles, supplements.
I’ve seen some people say they are releasing covid. IDK I’m thinking they are releasing something new. Either way it’s man made and a in my opinion a bio weapon.
On a sidenote… Maybe because you’re doing the carnivore diet, your body is readjusting. Also, a suggestion maybe eat a few carbs and see if it helps you get better faster and then go back to the carnivore diet. Seems like you got something bad. Hope you’re feeling better soon.
Carnivore hasn’t been happening since I got sick. I haven’t had much appetite. One day I ate couple sausage patties and boiled egg, yesterday ate boiled egg, grits and cupcake. I cooked sweet potatoes last night and didn’t want em when they got done. Going to eat one today. I figured out adding butter and cinnamon is just as good as with sugar. My sil didn’t have an appetite either. Today I woke up starving so I know I’m getting better. Yes, it’s very bad! Hubby probably glad to get to work and not hear coughing and spitting up junk. Thanks for the tips and well wishes.
Do you eat any leafy greens? Spinach, kale, anything like that?
Not on carnivore. On Keto plants are allowed. I like this because I don’t have to keep up with how much I eat. Counting calories, macros or carbs isn’t for me. There’s different ways of carnivore. The very strict eat beef, butter, eggs, bacon. I would eat that way but beef is just too expensive. Basically anything from an animal. Some give uo dairy for 60 days. We bought a 1/4 cow last May but it won’t last till we can get more if we only eat beef. I have bought some store beef and it’s just not good after having home grown with out the extra hormones. So we eat pork pork also. I would eat chicken but you need fat with your protein. It’s an elimination diet mainly to see if any medical, skin or gut problems is caused by food you eat. It’s also for weight loss if you need that, I started for both reasons. I didn’t give up dairy at first but I’m going to because I want to see if it’s responsible for my allergies. Not sure if you are asking out of curiosity or interested, doesn’t matter either way. There’s lots of videos on YouTube that’s very helpful. At first I told my husband I don’t think I can make it 30 days. After celebrating grandbaby’s birthday on her bday and a party eating non carnivore them getting sick and just couldn’t eat. I’m so ready to get back on. Things that used to be my favorites taste like chemicals. I was surprised how much sugar is in everything. I found out my local sausage I’ve eaten since a kid has grits and sugar. Sausage companies use wheat or corn as a binder. I can’t find any lunch meat without sugar. I thought I was good at knowing what was in food but not as good as I thought.
All right, good to hear. I’m sure you have everything in hand. Ta
I would have been better off to stay carnivore. Every time I have eaten non carnivore I either get awful stomach pain or diarrhea. Didn’t take long for my body to adjust. Plus cold medicine has dyes and sugar. Ate one small piece of pineapple and hurt for hours. Attempted to eat sweet potato with butter and cinnamon and it taste terrible. I’m beginning to believe it’s true plants are poison. I’ve watched so many videos by multiple doctors talking about the lies doctors tell us. It’s eye opening. I truly believe my husband and I found our path.
