Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
My dog has a hell of an imagination or is seeing ghost. He barks and barks, I see or hear nobody. Dachshunds are very unique but very loud like all little dogs. I have looked at all outside cameras and nothing is out there. Sometimes I think they bark too aggravate you.
And the neighbors.
Very true. My neighbors are family they know the dog comes first.
I don't understand what you mean? The dog comes before their concerns?
Of course not. If you have ever owned a dog or a cat but especially dog most people would rather be with their pet than people because it’s unconditional love. However if someone comes in my house and is rude to my pet yes, the pet comes first. My dad can be very aggressive and rude. A few months ago he came over for help with something. The dog kept barking at him. He said why don’t you do something with that dog. I said like what? He said throw it outside. A dog is going to bark at strangers because they are protecting you. It’s also their home and animals can read people better than we can.
i have a pappilon does the same thing.........
Had to look that up. What a cutie!
definitely has his own personality lol
This is a very common trait for dachshund!
As a pet sitter, I can confirm. 😂🤣
I know, I was posting to be funny. It’s my daughter’s but he’s the entire family’s. I keep him four days a week and other times I’m needed. We had a dachshund for twelve years and her personality was so different. I love em for their attitude. They think they are big and bad as a bear🤣 Look up Sausage Dog Hotel on instagram or facebook. That’s an entertaining account.
They have a couple long-haired wiener dogs there too. They are rare.
I’ll check it out now.
Next week I pet sit for two Chihuahuas, and a wiener dog. It’s one of those long haired wiener dogs. All he does is bark when I go over for the meet and greet. Once the owners leave, they calm down. They’re just trying to protect their owners. We’ll see how it goes.
That’s a set up right there🤣 As I’m reading this mine has come from his sunny window to let me know it’s time to eat. Wish I had an enternal clock.
