This post isn't about a perpetual motion machine, it's about a device that essentially harnesses electromagnetic fields and uses that to provide motion that then can be converted into energy much like a hydro-electric dam converts flowing water into electricity.
I have no clue if it works or not but you aren't discerning anything related to the claims this inventor made since it doesn't fit the definition of a perpetual motion machine.
A perpetual motion machine is a hypothetical device that operates indefinitely without an external energy source or input.
He claims his machine his a source / input of another type of energy making it an energy conversion device which wouldn't violate the laws of thermodynamics, which govern the fundamental principles of energy and its transformations.
If this invention is real it would be no more of a perpetual motion machine that a windmill is.
My understanding is that Newman's machine was battery-powered. (at 3:20 in OPs video)
The machine purportedly recharged the battery and provided additional power above and beyond the power generated to recharge the battery.
This would mean the power used to run it was less than the power output, and this would make it a perpetual motion machine.
The National Bureau of Standards (NBS), now known as the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), by request of the patent office, tested the device for several months and got negative results. In every case presented in the NBS report, the output power was less than power input from the battery pack, and therefore the efficiency was less than 100%. The court therefore upheld the rejection of the patent application.
Newman argued that he had been mistreated by the patent office, and tried to have his motor legalized directly by the US Congress. He obtained a hearing on 30 July 1986 in front of several senators, but he was unsuccessful. During the hearing, Newman refused to have the machine tested by independent experts, and senator John Glenn pointed out that his supposedly independent expert actually had a prior business relationship with him.
The case is now cited in the USPTO's Manual of Patent Examining Procedure as an example of an "inoperative" invention that can't have any utility, concretely as a perpetual motion machine.
It's possible that wikipedia is publishing false information. It's possible the government is lying.
I am just sharing information so people see both sides and not just one. I would love for the free energy machine to exist and for the government to not suppress inventions.
The real fact of the matter is that the United States is sitting on the world's largest natural gas deposit. There is such an enormous quantity and volume that it will be a long time before it runs out.
We could have dirt-cheap energy with the signature of a pen, right now.
Incorrect, He is input more energy than he is receiving making it not a perpetual motion machine. It is the battery input + Electromagnetic motion.
Here is an example:
Imagine a battery powered device that uses energy to poke a ball at the edge of a cliff. The ball falls, and reaches terminal velocity before hitting a wheel, spinning it.
The wheel then spins enough to not only power the battery pack but has a surplus. There are many reasons why this is not perpetual motion: The matter is a finite resource that would take energy to place onto a cliff. The gravity is added to the input and the momentum generated by the ball is converted into electrical energy.
This is Similar to what's happening above except that the earth and sun are supplying a lot of the work, making it appear to be less work than it really is.

A battery was involved, but not what powered the device. My car has a battery which is a critical part of it but is powered by gas. A 1949 Field Marshall Series 2 tractor can be started with a blank 12-gauge shotgun shell in place of hand cranking. That doesn't mean the tractor runs on ammunition.

This has become my favorite analogy of all time on this board. Thanks fren!
I agree with you. I just looked him up, he did all this hallabalo in the early 80's & died in 2015. If his machine really worked & the govt wanted it suppressed he would have been suicided long ago. .

Five Perpetual Motion Machines, and Why None of Them Work
Some counter arguments for discerning purposes.
You're making a category error.

Perpetual motion you say? I see your hypothesis and raise you Karpen's Pile.

🫡🪖🎖 Perhaps. But only three that are well coordinated. Placed at the beginning and end. 🫡🪖🎖
