Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Would you consider flour tortillas to be processed food?
Yes but there are some brands better than others. I don’t remember the brand it has a Spanish name. The problem is the oils used. I have never eaten enough to worry about the ingredients. Pre carnivore I brought home left over salsa from Mexican restaurants and made egg wraps for breakfast. I preferred a tortilla wrap over a bun on a burger.
You can make your own that way you control the ingredients. I think they freeze good. A tortilla press is helpful but not necessary. My daughter has made them from sourdough. They are great.
If you make your own tortillas, its not processed food. If you bought them at store, premade, then yes.
Thanks. I'm amazed by the amount of calories in them for something so thin.
Some of the brands are adding sugar to them which doesn't help the person trying to watch calories. I've tried some brands without sugar and they taste just fine.
Soybean is bad. Converts to female hormones when it gets in the body. Formula companies say not to feed soy milk to baby boys because of this. Who wants our MAGA men basically eating female hormones???? Hard to get away from, they put it in everything now. Cheaper cost, or some nefarious reason?
When I make enchiladas, I use the rest of the corn tortillas to make my own chips using ghee. They turn out delicious. Also, ghee has a higher cook Point. You need to eat them within 2-3 days though.
