The first compelling argument I have read that Big Mike "Michelle Obama" will fill in for Biden in the 2024 election. It's the only way to solve the Kamel Toe "Kamala Harris" problem in the case of a Biden exit.

I still think it’ll be someone like Newsom
Newsome isn't popular, has ruined California and it will come back to haunt him, he has too much baggage. Remember he put covid people into rest homes that killed many older seniors and families were not allowed to see them.
Yeah, but Joe and Kamala weren't popular either. It's not a matter of actually having someone popular or liked, it's a matter of installing them and THEN gaslighting people about how much they're liked.
Newsome represents the Pelosi machine and he is the heir of her political dynasty. Her power is slipping away, she’s no longer SOH or even Minority Leader. She’s not really carrying the party either. Her machine needs somebody to carry the torch. She’s going to die soon and then it all falls apart. Newsome is term limited and essentially at his power apex in California. Dems are desperate to keep Trump out of the whitehouse and Newsome has been running a shadow campaign. It’s likely his best shot to be President as the Biden replacement. No primary to deal with and Pelosi can cash in all her chips if necessary.
Newsome could pivot to president in 2028 right after his term as governor ends, or he could try for Alex Padilla’s senate seat the same year. But Padilla was SoS during Newsome’s governership, so I’d say he’s probably Pelosi aligned. The machine would be way more powerful if both of them had important positions.
Newsome is going to take a run at President and VP is the consolation prize.
Sure, he makes more sense. But then how do you solve the Kamel Toe problem?
