Bless your heart. I am not a math wizard. I remember an 8th grade aptitude test. My results recommended engineering and law. I always thought I was bad at math because I was low on the scores. Few years ago, I found state required test result from 8th grade. I was in the 99/100 percentile in everything but math. I was in the 88th percentile so I just assumed I was an idiot. See how easily the state decides who you are?
Absolutely state testing should not be a thing. Some people know the subject but don’t do good on timed test. Glad you figured out you weren’t an idiot😝 I just didn’t school work and didn’t apply myself but made A’s in history. If I had art, cooking and crafts I would have been a top student. I saw a video recently talking about structured school all day isn’t healthy for kids. The entire system is broken. I think it’s one of the Swedish countries kids start school at 7. It said, younger than that they aren’t ready.
Absolutely agree. Kid's eyes don't adjust for reading until 7. I never went to kindergarten. I went into 1st grade without knowing the alphabet and my colors. We had plenty of time for recess and story time. I think the majority of my class attended college. Couple of drs, several engineers, teachers galore, several veterans, one pilot..not even one criminal. Statistics are pretty impressive.
