Warehouse storing lithium batteries goes up in flames in France amid growing fears over their dangers
The warehouse in Viviez in Aveyron, France had 70 firefighters fighting the blaze
A warehouse storing 900 tons of lithium batteries waiting to be recycled went up in flames this afternoon, amid growing fears over their dangers.
The fire in France occurred at a storehouse in the town in Viviez in Aveyron, and residents were told to stay indoors by authorities.
Locals were ordered to keep their doors and window closed as the thick smoke engulfed the town. No injuries or deaths were reported.
While the cause of the fire has yet to be confirmed, it took 70 firefighters to get the flames under control.
Lithium batteries, found in e-scooters, are the fastest growing fire risk in London, with the London Fire Brigade called to an e-bike or scooter fire once every two days on average last year.
The fire in France has once again raised questions around the use and safety concerning the batteries.
Jean-Louis Denoit, the mayor of Viviez, called the fire 'shocking' and told French news outlet BFMTV: 'There is indeed reason to ask questions about the function of electric vehicles and lithium batteries.'
You know, it would be very easy to do this.
Find a warehouse storing lithium batteries, get a rough idea where the batteries are stored.. then load a .50 cal or other armor piercing round in a sniper rifle in a discreet location where you can shoot through the wall.. then fire and wait to see smoke, then walk away.
As soon as the contents of one battery meets oxygen.. that's it.. the whole building is going up in massive flames.
Is this a confession fren, just kidding. lol
lol, no. I was just thinking how easy it would be to do. The hardest part would be getting an M107/M82 and a few .50 cal armor piercing rounds. Once the fire starts, no one is going to find out it was a round until a lot later, after the fire stops and the site is safe to examine (assuming the evidence survived). By then the shooter could be on the other side of the world.
Add the incendiary feature for a few cents more and it’ll surely add to the cell failure and ...
i have a hunch that the lithium fire is NOT very good for the environment...
Where's all the 'Greenies' protesting? Oh, wait they didn't glue their hands to the side of the building did they/them?
It's fine, it only emits hydrogen flouride I mean it's not like it's a precursor to Sarin gas or anything. It's perfectly safe for the environment (just not anything that lives in the environment).
Is this why Biden is scaling back the timing on the EVs?
Well, that's one way to avoid the costs of actually recycling all that toxic material. Just make sure your insurance is paid up.
Why would 900 tons of used lithium batteries be sitting around anywhere. That is a lot. It is probably more like someone didn't know what to do with all of this shit, and just let it pile up.
well there is a huge recall of batteries from ebike in Europe, and more specifically the UK. UPP brand batteries. Were starting fires. Very likely could be seized/recalled batteries? Finally shitting the bed?

Same as the fields of battery cars sitting in fields...and toxic waste of thousands of fiberglass composite turbine blades being buried by bulldozers.
And what about all the junk in these new solar farms?
Good question. Halfrican’s friends who left a toxic waste dump at Solyndra here in calirado after walking away with millions in ‘bonuses’ paid for by our tax dollars likely won’t be giving any details about those PV panel toxins...
In our area the Govenor has declared eminent domain. Local government can't say no, land owners can't say no. The governor decides what your property is worth and they pay you that amount. We are losing acreage that has been farmed for 150-200 years. I personally have 14 acres of land that I paid $55k for in 1999 and they have land speculators sending me letters with offers at 1/2 that. So they are cheating as well as polluting our soil. My husband lived Colorado for 35 years before returning to his home town here in Michigan. He still has family there. We count them as lost. Both states have been over run and will be considered enemy territory as this fight goes on. I pray the WHs realize the citizens are on their side. We didn't vote for this, our elections were stolen.
