I have DRS shares in a standard brokerage account (after tax), but I also have a bunch through a 401k Brokerage account that I'm allowed to invest how I like.
Do the 401k brokerage accounts usually let you DRS those shares also?
I believe it is possible through certain brokers. I don’t have a direct answer, however if you research ‘DRS IRA GME’ or similar, you’ll turn up some results. I think there was a walkthrough by some GME (game-stop) folks someplace.
The walkthrough had some paperwork hoops to jump through for sure, but I believe it was legal/ doable.
We already found out that it's pretty much impossible to DRS shares in an IRA without spending thousands to set up an LLC. The Mainstar Trust debacle taught us that.
Search DRS GME - you’ll do fine - much is out there on direct registration of shares to your name (vs a brokerage) in order to lessen the effects of naked short selling.
