Cell towers are interconnected via fiber backbone which is part of the internet infrastructure.
The implication of the post this was an attempt to stop some truth from spreading. So, what truth is that? And how does an outage only impacting cellular networks stop it from spreading when we're all here discussing things?
This might have been the first test run. I donβt recall a cellular outage of this magnitude previously. Post may be also timed to bring awareness to the planned DS blackout.
I do. Verizon last November: https://www.datacenterdynamics.com/en/news/widespread-verizon-outage-impacts-north-america/
Verizon last July: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-12340079/Verizon-Worldwide-outage-leaves-hundreds-thousands-users-without-mobile-internet-service.html
Verizon September 2018: https://austincountynewsonline.com/verizon-wireless-network-suffers-massive-outage-across-us/
I could go on with other providers, but this is about as unusual as air travel delays at Thanksgiving
Test run of what?
Also....to offgridguy's point my cell service has been fine today. Lots of networks today
Oh, a handshake account. That explains it. Test run of blackout to stop the election.
No problems reported in my area
Because we are in Phase [2]
