Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
If they don’t kill us by vax, bacteria mosquitoes, food, manmade meat, prescription drugs and cancer treatments they will do it through clean products. Our skin is the biggest organ and absorbs everything good or bad. These toxins in body wash, shampoo, shaving products, sunscreen, household cleaners is one of the cancer causes. Sugar is probably another cause, cancer feeds on it.
I’m researching, trying to find a non toxic dish soap and found a great website. Using even a clean product with coconut derived ingredients turns my hands to sand paper texture. Dawn is like pouring acid on them.
Here are some of the ingredients that you don’t want to find in your dish soap:
DMDM Hydantoin and quaternium-15 are formaldehyde releasing preservatives. They also are respiratory irritants. Formaldehyde is a potent allergen and is classified as a carcinogen by the Department of Health and Human Services and the World Health Organization.
Isothiazolinone preservatives such as Benzisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Octylisothiazolinone inhibit bacterial growth. Methylisothiazolinone and Methylchloroisothiazolinone are also skin irritants and Octylisothiazolinone can cause allergic contact dermatitis. If you are sensitive to methylisothiazolinone or methylchloroisothiazolinone then you are likely going to be more sensitive to benzisothiazolinone
Ethoxylated Ingredients are non-ionic surfactants that can generate the toxic chemical 1,4-dioxane and PEG’s as part of the manufacturing process. According to the Toxic Free Foundation database, they can be identified by the prefix “PEG”, “polyethylene”, “polyethylene glycol”, “polyoxyethylene”, “-eth-“, or “-oxynol-”
Triclosan is an endocrine disruptor, skin irritant, and can promote allergies. It also can impair reproductive health in both men and women.
Fragrances can be a chemical soup. They can contain phthalates and parabens which are known endocrine disrupters.
Sodium Laureth Sulfate is a surfactant that can become contaminated with toxic impurities like 1,4-dioxane which is a known carcinogen. Sodium laureth sulfate can also cause skin and eye irritation.
Colorants or dyes such as FD&C Blue or Yellow-5 are derived from petroleum and contain irritating compounds such as benzidine, a known carcinogen.

Shower water filled with fluoride and heavy metals, bacteria, etc
Americans loooove to shower..unlike a lot of cultures
Oh yes, and I do love the stay in very nice shower longer than necessary. At least my shower is basic so it’s in and out. Bath or shower either way you are in the contaminated water. I enjoy a good Epsom salt bath.
Military Shower here. Two minutes! My Navy Dad would shout! Two Minutes! That’s all the time you need to get clean!😂😂😂
Sounds like my house growing up. My dad was and is still bad about this. I don’t think it’s military. I think it’s from growing up poor and scared he’s going to lose money. Our first trip as a married couple was with my parents to a Nascar race we shared a room with my parents and brother. My dad said he was going first. He wasn’t in the bathroom four minutes. My husband looked at me with big eyes like WTF. I silently died laughing. Growing up he would yell outside the door if you were in the shower to long. God forbid I wash my hair every day. He’s the same way with heat and AC. I literally froze in the winter and sweated like a pig in the summer. My brother lives with him now. Every time I go over my brother tells me what he’s doing. Currently can’t put heat past 67. My brother told him the house was getting colder then looked it was on 67. I think they had a round about that. Daddy yelled blankets on yourself🤣 My brother is whispering to me he thinks he’s got dementia. Maybe but daddy’s always been tight!
What? Lol never heard that in my life.
They put plenty of chlorine in the water to kill bacteria btw.
Did not know water filters removed chlorine. I thought it could only be removed via the chlorine evaporating back into a gas.
Well dang I didn’t know that. You just saved my husband work and money. I’ve been bitching about a whole house water filter for years.
