Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat

-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.

If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Military Shower here. Two minutes! My Navy Dad would shout! Two Minutes! That’s all the time you need to get clean!😂😂😂
Sounds like my house growing up. My dad was and is still bad about this. I don’t think it’s military. I think it’s from growing up poor and scared he’s going to lose money. Our first trip as a married couple was with my parents to a Nascar race we shared a room with my parents and brother. My dad said he was going first. He wasn’t in the bathroom four minutes. My husband looked at me with big eyes like WTF. I silently died laughing. Growing up he would yell outside the door if you were in the shower to long. God forbid I wash my hair every day. He’s the same way with heat and AC. I literally froze in the winter and sweated like a pig in the summer. My brother lives with him now. Every time I go over my brother tells me what he’s doing. Currently can’t put heat past 67. My brother told him the house was getting colder then looked it was on 67. I think they had a round about that. Daddy yelled blankets on yourself🤣 My brother is whispering to me he thinks he’s got dementia. Maybe but daddy’s always been tight!
I love your Dad…(I’m just like him)!
Well I wouldn’t want to live with you either. He never had a clue when I was a teenager, my mom closed her beauty shop at home and was working in town, I woke my brother up every morning. We lowered every window and at 4:30 opened them up. AC ran all day till 4:30 and he thought he was saving money on AC. He also doesn’t understand it takes more electricity to warm or cool a house than keep it at the same temperature. I’ve been over in the summer and it’s on 80 degrees and my elderly mom is sweating. She had forgotten how to work thermostat. Now that pissed me off. He drives with AC blasting and she’s sweating in 100 degree heat. He provided for me and I know he loves me even if he’s harsh talking and honestly that doesn’t bother me, I’ve forgiven and moved from childhood trauma. But sometimes being that frugal is more about control than saving money. I never knew about narcissistic until I was in therapy about twenty years ago. Turns out both parents fit that description. Absolutely not complaining even with that I had a wonderful childhood.
That’s a mental image I could have lived without 🤮
LOL…I can’t stop laughing
