Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Every time my wife says its time for a haircut I start worrying. I dont know what it is, but it seems finding a hairstylist who can follow basic instructions and do exactly what is asked and not some crazy experimentation is really hard to find. If your profession is cutting hair, it should be easy to do and yet apparently its so very hard.
I totally understand this. I call myself the hair stylist whore. I’ll give anyone multiple second chances. Screw up my hair and we are over! I tell them I have my hazel eyes, boobs & great hair the rest is average or way below, DO NOT SCREW UP MY HAIR! This happened in 2020, I was going to a really nice Muslim lady. I really enjoyed talking to her while getting hair done. She’s born and raised here and doesn’t conform to all the strict rules. We could talk openly and respectfully about differences in religion. The last time I got my haircut it was very bad. I had shown her picture of messy bob.
Showed her this: https://www.thesmallthingsblog.com/2023/10/my-shoulder-grazing-bob-haircut/
Got this: 3rd one down Mary J Blidge https://www.thehairstyler.com/blogs/hairstyles/pageboy-bob.amp
After calling spoke with manager to get someone else to fix it. Ended up with this: https://www.refinery29.com/en-gb/bob-haircut-short-hair-hatred
A woman who’s been doing hair at least fifteen years didn’t know how to soften the edges with a fringe cut. I know how to do from watching for thirty years but wouldn’t dare do it on myself. She kept cutting and cutting to no avail. The manager was beside us and I told the manager exactly that, messy fringe cut. She had to show her how to cut it. Clearly the lady trying to do my hair does old lady wash and curl weekly apts and should not be trying to do trendy styles. On top of that I had to pay for another haircut. This was about a week before 2020 lockdown. I started plandimic looking like a school boy bowl haircut and didn’t get it cut for two years. So, I’m very picky and if necessary will pay more. Doesn’t help that I’m spoiled and never paid for haircuts etc until I was in my mid thirties. My mom had reached the point she couldn’t do it anymore.
Just like schools passing kids through I believe other schools are doing the same.
