'The D.C. government’s pilot program was issued in 2022 to offer more than 100 low-income mothers $10,800 to assess how cash payments with no strings attached could help a family in the future, the Washington Post reported February 1.'
Right! Why would you hand a poor person $10k? It's gonna be spent by Monday morning in most cases. Most poor folks don't have financial planners or stellar credit to actually buy a house, etc...the whole concept looks like a money waste/laundering system.
Some folks might think this is a black thing, but it's not. It's a idiot thing.
I know family members that took out student loans and pissed away a couple of thousand dollars on a big party. I have seen poor people win lottos worth a few million and be broke in little more than a year.
Some folks just don't have the capacity to put money to work for their best interests.
That's exactly why this kind of program does not work. Hard working Americans are underwriting the Lefts ridiculous giveaway to people that have no idea about hard work and thriftiness it seems.
"She was a stay-at-home mom when her third child, Nazir, was born in summer 2022, making things work financially through a host of public benefits. Her two-bedroom apartment in Anacostia is subsidized, and with Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) as her only income, her rent payments are about $120 a month. Food stamps and WIC, a program that offers nutritional support for low-income mothers, offered another lifeline for Miller to provide for her infant and two older children, ages 5 and 8."
Basic human needs met, but give her $10K in pocket money!!
It's insane and immoral. But, it's how the DS rolls. How about student loan forgiveness for billions of dollars? Not to say the colleges aren't way outta line on tuition fees, etc... The whole financial system is based on thievery and entitlements for the super rich and a few of their favored minions.
Yup. The folks who just handed her that money should be held liable for recklessness. The money didn't improve the life of her kids. It probably made it worse.

Well I guess this lady is showing them how.
Bought a vote…
People w slacker jerbs and a couple kids get 9 grand back in tax returns....
How does that work? On a tax return you get that much for what's it called...child tax credit?
The personal tax credit is high enough (earned income credit)..then the child credit is like three grand a kid
When she’s hungry, she’ll realize her mistake.
She'll just ask for more. Talk about feeling entitled.
She’s in DC, they prob hand it out on an annual basis. Maybe they’ll be smarter in how they hand out welfare, like monthly or bi-weekly.

Yep, if they give it to her, it's hers. Good luck feeding your children lady.
Not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
Girls just wanna have fun!

That’s what people do who don’t understand the value of money.
Edit: I see, she wanted to set an example for her kids on the value of money.
