I'd settle for milky blue, most days its white/grey. Sick of it. People in the UK are so used to it they don't even notice until you point out we don't have blue skies any more.
I remember when the sun was brown. Mostly smog from cars. This was before any effort was made to clean cars up. Early efforts were terrible but now, even high performance cars are clean burning. But look at the air in China or India or any of the developing countries and it’s worse than the USA was at the peak in the sixties and seventies.
Smog was cleaned up by the catalytic convertors out in cars that was invented by Corning. It removed the nitrogen oxide in gasoline that make the brown color.
