What does he need immunity from exactly?
The SCOTUS deciding on Presidential Immunity for Trump won't amount to much.
He is the most investigated person on planet earth and nothing has popped up yet.
However, what do Bush, Obama, and Clinton need Presidential Immunity from?
That is the question.
What if Trump is the sacrificial lamb to get the rest of these former presidents no immunity? The case’s ruling itself could activate the military, if not immediately, in the future on the grounds of court corruption. Just a thought.
This is just my personal opinion and I am open to learning more from others.
I think the Supreme Court says Presidents have immunity for their presidential actions while serving as president.
If presidents did not have immunity, the next administration would likely lock the previous president up over and over, back and forth. It would destroy our Republic.
What I would like to see happen is that this case is strung out past the 2024 election, so there is no funny business with Trump and the courts before the election. Then the SCOTUS finds presidents do NOT have immunity, and then Clinton, Bush, and Obama all get their rightful hearings in Guantanamo.
But that is my vindictive self speaking. I think giving presidents presidential immunity while serving as president is the right thing to do. This all works fine if we have free and fair Elections. The people make good decisions on who should be the leader when elections are free and fair.
Because we do not have free and fair elections, and we have Selections instead, we have had dangerously compromised people serve as president and this has been destroying our Republic as well.
We need to start with free and fair elections, then clean out DC, and then we can get on our way.
p.s. I think Clinton, Bush, and Obama have all committed crimes outside of their roles as President so they can likely still get arrested and locked up. Just my opinion.

I don't see how Presidents don't have immunity while in office, at least for the duties of the job. Now, if they run out and shoot someone dead on the street, that's a whole different kettle of fish. For the past criminals - lots would fall outside the scope of the office, imo.
So what about drone strikes that shoot people dead on the street?

How do you define what falls within the scope of office and what doesn't? We're not talking about a full-time employee who has a side hustle. When serving as president I would assume that every single minute of every single day for the entire term in office is considered being on the job and within the scope of office.
I just don't see how you can split it up. One is either president at all times during their term or they are not. Once the term ends, the position of president ends.
The saddest part of this entire discussion is that we assume that presidents can be bad people and do bad things.
When I was growing up I had the position of president so high on a pedestal they could do no wrong. Part of that was childhood innocence and naivety, but I also think the world has changed.
I think the IC's blackmailing and selecting politicians has changed everything.

I think the office of the president is truly a unique position in our nation. It should be reserved for only the highest quality people.

I truly believe that if we have free and fair elections that only the very best will rise to the top and we will be proud of our president's character.
We all see how corrupt the government and especially the IC has become. This needs to be fixed or our nation will collapse from within. We will have far bigger problems than worrying about the president's behavior. Our nation will be gone.
what do you think about it being on the last day of supreme court hearings before a break? that stood out to me. why that day? will they feel it out and push it back if the timing isn't right? hmmm.
