Sign swipe was good, but after, I would've preferred to see him kick both in the backside so they'd nosedive into the pit. Now THAT would've made it truly epic!
My first thought was he is a better person than I am because I would have done just as you suggested. All the missing teeth from the nosedive would give them a perfectly good reason to wear their masks.
