Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
I just learned about that yesterday for the first time. What is also interesting is they all formed because all the Naval Bases around Jacksonville, Florida were in need of live Entertainment. It was that source of revenue that gave birth to so many well practiced and experienced Bands.
I didn’t know that. The for sharing. I’m southern so Southern Rock, especially Lynyrd Skynyrd is next the national anthem for me and most from the south.
I was front row for Lynyrd Skynyrd when they played up in Ottawa, Canada about 4 years ago. So happy I saw Gary Rossington. When they played Free Bird I swear I felt a Spiritual connection to Ronnie Van Zant up in Heaven. If I could go back in time and relive my life. Id pick that area to grow up in. Thanks for sharing. Stay strong and hope to see you at FrenFest in the next few years.
We haven’t seen them in concert. My husband is such a big fan he thinks he would be disappointed seeing them with out the original members. Kinda like I feel about Queen and Adam Lambert (I think that’s his last name). Nobody could replace Freddie Mercury. Used to go to a lot of country concerts but Covid stopped that. Our lives changed new priorities and haven’t been lately.
I bet that fun! When we were going to concerts most shows we were front row in the pit. Tiring but so worth it.
When I was in high school friends were going to see 38 special. I was honest and asked my mom could I go. Nope! And started my teenage lying years. Saw Hank Williams Jr in 84 and she still doesn’t know. Yeah, FrenFest sounds great once we things straightened out in the world. Until then we have this crazy place.
Thank Goodness we have this crazy place, is right! It is hard to even believe what Evil is being cast down upon us ATM. Canada has gone insane and I live in the Capital City. Although, I now have a GF in another City so I can get out of this place from time to time. I saw Queen play in 1981. Freddie Mercury was my idol until the Police and Sting came along. I'm sorry your Mom ruined your chance to see 38 Special in their Prime. My favorite concert was seeing the Rolling Stones in Buffalo in 1981. George Thorogood and Journey opened for them. Thanks for sharing parts of your life with me.
