Also - do you happen to know why it is actually a valid reference? There is 1 sheriff per county (or county equivalent in US territories). We didn't make more counties - in fact some may have merged creating fewer counties. The number is very likely between 3,000 and 3,100.
Whatever. The number available is 3,081. Someone else even posted it. I accounted for the possibility of counties merging. Next time do your own research (which was really easy) rather than "requiring" others to do it for you and then giving them shit for being nice enough to provide more.
