Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment

-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)

If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
If you would have told me a few years ago one of my biggest supporters of making music would be the local church's pastor's wife I would have laughed.
I made a song when I got baptized last year ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51xbTOf-vWg if you want to check it out) and she shared it to the whole congregation in the newsletter she sends out to everyone each week... And several times after during our chatter after services she has brought up the chorus, jokingly singing it because something reminded her of it lol
Unfortunately, in my current moment im in a bit of a backslide - but, every chapter leads to the whole story in the end this is happening for a reason I have faith. But, the cool thing was the day I first decided to walk into AA was a friday and my first time attending church was that Sunday. That led to me having a full year of sobriety along with a sense of community and a 2nd family I never knew I was missing until I became a "church person"
I am part of a full on church community now. I love it. I clean up after the kids on Sunday, just to help out so somebody else doesn’t have to do it. I go to a Thursday morning, Womens Bible Study, and these women are lit. They’re all over 50, and they kick ass. They know God’s word inside and out, and our Bible studies are anything, but tea and crumpets.
It’s great to have a bunch of women that care for one another, pray for one another, and share gods word with one another. Being part of a church community it’s just awesome! I live in Hawaii part time, and I have an entire church community over there as well. If somebody asks for prayer, I send it to four different Womens Bible Study’s. It’s a great life.
I’m so happy that you got sober, and that you have found Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. I’m happy to hear you found a fan in your church community, and that she’s lifting you up by supporting you and your music. Sounds like a great Church you got there, hold onto it. Thanks for sharing this IRL story. It was very positive and uplifting.
Thank you Jesus!!!
btw I love that first part you said because when I say local I mean... I share a fence with them lol I open my gate take 2 steps through some grass and im in the church parking lot. If you're in my driveway you can see their cross above our garage i thought that was neat even before I found God but now it hits different.
Anyway I say that because one day I was outside playin with my dog and i happened to hear somethin goin on over there - a few of the dads brought their kids to play hockey in the parking lot. So, when they were ready to call it a wrap I popped over and told them hey go head and cool down downstairs or whatever u wanna do but ill get all of this packed up for ya
That was very kind of you to reach out as a neighbor. And be helpful to others. I have found that in my journey with the Lord, when I take the attention off myself, it’s so much easier walk. I to have suffered with drug addiction and depression, and I am free indeed.
Honestly I didn't really even think about it I just happened to be outside and was like hey that'll be neat if they dont have to pack all that stuff up and just enjoy the fun afternoon they had
"Do unto others" would be the biblical way to put it - but, I like how Eyedea put it when he said...
"I'm here for you, the same way you're here for me
we're all just intricate pieces of infinity"
( RIP Eyedea. )
Like I said, unfortunately the sobriety had a spill recently so I just feel it's only fair to not accept any congratulations on that until I start climbing that mountain again. You know? But, even though I slipped nothing can take away that year and everything that happened because I was sober - both from growing closer to the church and also the AA members. A few things happened and I got discouraged, it took me off my path - but... if Job can go through everything he did and still never lose faith that God has his plan - so can I.
btw speaking of music are you familiar with a guy named Rare Of Breed at all? If not, I'd love for you to check out some of his stuff. I can suggest one that might be a good first impression of what he does and who he does it for (Amen).
Don’t worry that you slipped and fell. We all do. Just carry on with your faith and your walk with the Lord. Just keep going to that church, and walking with the Lord. Those people will pray for you and lift you up!
As it is written, there is none that is righteous, no, not one. Romans 3:10
Jesus did all the work for us!
”There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.“ Romans 8:1
Carry-on you’re doing fantastic 🙏🫡
I slipped and fell many times before I ever found God but once I did now I actually believe that I have a chance at one day never falling again.
but yeah do you wanna check out that Rare of Breed guy? I can't promise you'll like his style cause if we all liked the exact same music what would be the point? but... I will say if you're a "church person" lol then its something you can appreciate lol
edit: i just realized how relevant your username is to this story I told you lol
