Month after month, for nearly 8 years, they are breaking records.
In 2010 around 10M guns were sold. 2017-2019 saw around 15M per year. Americans took advantage of covid relief in 2020 as 23M were sold. That number has settled into a steady 18M since then. By these numbers the number of guns sold since 2017 are enough to arm 1/3 of the population (men, women and children) in the US.
My one question of these numbers: Are the ARs that are built by private people with a FFL counted in these numbers? Because here in Michigan building ARs up from lowers is a cottage industry. I know a lot of Union guys who do this as a side hustle arming their friends and neighbors.
Possibly serialized receivers, which is probably the majority of builds, but they can't track 80%s that's why they want to ban them. And there are quite a few out there. They also can't track parts kits, which can be finished by 80% or 3D printing nowadays. They can't track my FAMAR its just a 16" AR upper in a 3D printed shell. The numbers are probably ~20% higher I would guess as a rough estimate.
Does anyone know what gun sales are lately?

Good gig. I wish I knew someone to make one for me!

Great information! Much thanks, and you make a very important point about the ARs. Being made privately.
