The Denver Post, on February 15th, ran an Associated Press article entitled Homeland Security aims to buy 1.6b rounds of ammo, so far to little notice. It confirmed that the Department of Homeland Security has issued an open purchase order for 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition. As reported elsewhere, some of this purchase order is for hollow-point rounds, forbidden by international law for use in war, along with a frightening amount specialized for snipers. Also reported elsewhere, at the height of the Iraq War the Army was expending less than 6 million rounds a month. Therefore 1.6 billion rounds would be enough to sustain a hot war for 20+ years. In America.

We need an insider (an honest person with a conscience) to let us know what the heck it’s all about! Has this been investigated by the Congress?
"Has this been investigated by the Congress?”... Ha Ha ha.... That’s cute. Congress.... Investigating. Name one congressional investigation that led t ------ I’m sorry, the gentlemans time has expired....
Congress will investigate. Wag a finger. Issue a non binding resolution. Then go sacrifice a child to Molech.

Funniest comment I've read today. Also sad, because it's so true!
hahaha .. I could actually hear the gavel banging in my head while reading your comment.
I was w/ DHS during the last “debacle” and was a user of said (scary) hollow point rounds. We trained so stinking much the amount ordered was understandable. When I inquired with our armorer's about it they ran through some quick math and it made sense.
Now, I wouldn’t put it past them if they were doing it for nefarious means (see: govt), but I don’t think it’s the case.
Thanks for info, perhaps we can sleep a little better now. Always like to hear from someone who was there!
Yes, this was purchased in 2013.I’m sure it’s been used up for training purposes. LE and military. Nothing unusual here.
ConGress? Ha! They are probably the ones who pushed this.
What to expect from a congress of baboons? Feces and ugly noise...
Congress sometimes gets a report from the Inspector General regarding ammo. For instance, here's one from Sep 2023 about the 235M rounds the CBP purchased in the four years between 2019-2022. Table 1 on page 2 of the report breaks down the ammo by year.
