Yeah, sounds odd. I guess people think she should only wear something once and then throw it out. As I mentioned in the other post about this, I believe horizontal stripes enhance "things" so not surprising that women might like clothing with horizontal stripes and thus wear them more often. And I think vertical stripes do the opposite so you probably won't see many women wearing those.
