And bias isn't necessarily a bad thing; it's just important to be aware of it and take it into account, so that one is not 'controlled' by it (i.e. manipulated by others or self using bias as a leverage or crutch).

Hmmm.... OK. But this makes me wonder how many of us see our core mission as awakening. Because I hold to the conviction that truth is what awakens, fully and truly. But sadly, a lot of folks slip into other matrices and other prejudices after awakening to SOME of the truth. Our pursuit of the truth should be bold and uncompromising, not subjugated to our own biases and prejudices.

But on that note: listening to a really interesting episode of Defected tonight. touching on the issues of how and why we and others choose what we believe, etc.
