Though if they intend on turning this into a taking and holding territory mission. Rather then just a particularly severe version of the cross border raids this group has been known for. They’ll likely have to moderate their stance.
The Shiite government and Religious establishment isn’t particularly popular anymore. Even among Shiites. As the numerous protests and quashed uprisings. As well as several publicized public beatings of the “Moral Police” and Government Mouthpieces by angry citizens can attest.
Though it’s just as likely this could trigger unrelated Shitte uprisings elsewhere in the country if they’re unsuccessful in suppressing this one.
Islamic fundamentalism is a fairly recent phenomenon in Iran. There are people there my age that remember a far more secular culture. Go back and look at pictures from the 50s, 60s and 70s. Look at how Iranian expats live in this country today. Islam was imposed on the Iranian people just as LGBTQ culture (you could even call it a religion, it is very like one) is being imposed on us.
I'm not "religious,"(nor am I anti religious) however, I am interested in some ways you would consider "LGBTQ culture" to be very much like a religion...that is, if you don't mind elaborating. Thanks
Is this the ancient Sunni "Shiite" strife? I was told the Sunni's refer to the Shiite's as "Shitties". FWIW.
Potentially. The Secessionists are largely Sunni.

Sunni is Saudi Arabia right, meaning the Saudi's a Sunni. Could they have a hand in this?
