No explanation was given. And strangely, their logo has suddenly changed. The new logo + the sentence "...our leading providers of curriculum" leads me to believe that Calvert was purchased by another company and shut down.
Note: Edmentum was critical e-learning tool, this is also noted in the below article regarding Vistria.
Edmentum majority owner was non other than Blackrock and New Mountain Finance.
As seen is this article PLATO has been around for 60 years and a key tool used in internet educational resources and exchange of information. Even utilized by the DOD and agencies, spawning it's own program.
Then in 2020 The Vistria Group invested in Edmentum. “This investment in Edmentum will add a powerful suite of K-Adult instructional programs into the Vistria portfolio. As a premier provider of education solutions in the market today, Edmentum’s unique blend of research-based digital curriculum, assessments for learning, and educational consulting are unmatched.”
https://vistria.com/the-vistria-group-invests-in-edmentum/
The kicker line to the whole this in the above article. “I would like to thank our current investment partners, New Mountain Finance Corporation and funds managed by BlackRock, for choosing to continue with Edmentum, and look forward to Vistria’s support in our next phase of growth.”
So, in 2019 Calvert was bought by Edmentum (PLATO / CDC), in 2020 Vistria bought interest in Edmonton. So, Vistria, Blackrock & New Mountain “owned” Calvert.
Thank you so much for digging up this information for me. This is why I love the GA community so much. The people on GA are awesome at digging up information.
When I got that email this morning, my instincts told me that something like this had happened, but I haven't had a chance yet today to dig for myself. I really appreciate that you took the time and effort to dig for me. :)
The information you dug up also explains why a couple of years ago, Calvert stopped allowing students to do their paper curriculum and forced everyone into the online curriculum.
It also explains why Calvert allowed school districts to utilize their platforms during Covid lockdowns. The parents who I talked to thought they were using Calvert curriculum, not school district curriculum, and were complaining about the curriculum. They were shocked when I told them that the curriculum my child had was completely different from what their kids had. It surprised me that Calvert would allow their brand to be damaged, but now I see why they didn't care.
You are welcome. I was interested because my daughter and my wife are preparing to homeschool our granddaughters (2&4), so I had come across Calvert while poking around at curriculum. Anyway, long winded way of saying I was curious. It's a pretty tangled web of shit. Vistria is a very woke company with many ties with known shitbag companies. Birds of a feather I guess. It's damn sad, I'm sure Calvert was great before they got ate.
My wife worked in the public schools for 17 years. She left years ago when common core came about, she saw the piece of shit, refused, they said "comply" or else. She took the or else route and told them to screw off. Now she teaches for a home school co-op. It's growing like a weed, the school she teaches at can't grow fast enough, demand exceeding capacity.
People are running from the government indoctrination camps that the normies call public education.
I believe that home school coops are the future of education for this country. I'd love to see a network of them set up in my area.
In years past, one of the main limiting factors was parents couldn't be involved because of work schedules, but now with more and more people working from home on flexible schedules, it can be a reality for a large percentage of families.

Randi Weingarten behind this??
ha ha! Who knows?
Fortunately there are many other excellent home school programs out there now.
Heard good things about the Ron Paul Curriculum.
Edmentum quietly purchased Calvert Education Systems back in 2019.

Important note in above article. “Edmentum, stewards of the PLATO Courseware and other online learning solutions….” Now see below.

Calvert got assassinated by Blackrock and PLATO.

Calvert was great.
Homeschool communities are amazing these days. I'm glad that your granddaughters will be raised in one. The investment pays off in spades.

Should have known Blackrock was behind this...🤬
I know, right? Blackrock appears to be determined to destroy everything good in the world...
Absolutely...
They sold out.
An opportunity just opened up for some patriot minded folk.
