I chewed tobacco for many years, traveling around the country touching doorknobs and putting my fingers in my mouth. I am immune, I don't get sick much like others do.
Those amoebas specifically go through the olfactory bulb in the nose to the brain, so it's not a huge issue unless you plan to snort the water, Hunter style.
I like drinking room temperature coffee that sits out all night. A couple times I swallowed a surprise roach (unmistakable). Still here, but i eat ivermectin like candy. A handful of soil every day keeps the doctor away or something. 😂

Your fingers or others' fingers?
My fingers. I also drank from ponds and lakes....... I don't have much fear of getting sick.
I wouldn't recommend drinking from still-water tho.
I’ve seen news about people getting ‘Brain-Eating-Amoebas’.
How true that is, I don’t know.
Maybe that was to scare us away from something good.
We didn't have city/ county water when I was a kid, we just pumped it out of the lake. Probably not the best, but people did that kind of thing then.

Best I can do is - somebody put out a cig in my beer while I was dancing and I came back and drank it
A cloth-moth flew into my mouth when I went to sleep.
It stayed under my tongue all night until I woke up the next morning and spat it out.
LOL
Flashback 🤣! Been there, done that.
Who knew roaches like coffee!
