Audi 3.0L V6 Diesel is (was) one of the best engines ever made. Clean, low in fuel consumtion, lots of power, very long lasting (300,000 Km+ with ease). That's what I call sustainable, but the retards will never understand this.
The best engine is one that is overbuilt, performance and reliability usually have to compromise to find the perfect balance. For your daily drive reliability is all the matters.
Heh, well I had a high-miles 300SD (bought for $800) and it was solid but for all the little things wearing out. Like window regulators where you have to buy the whole arm instead of the little plastic piece that breaks. Once I was up to about 5 grand on things like that (about 2 years) I sold it.

Indeed. Then there was the Mercedes diesel motor (as in the 300D, 300SD) that would do 300,000+ MILES with ease.
Well "lots of power" is not a claim it could make, I'll grant you that!
I drive a Mazda 3…..about 40 mpg. I change the oil regularly. 305,000 miles so far and runs like a top!
