It's hard and losing one takes a lot out of you. I've had Labs for most of my 71 years but for the last 6 years I've been dogless. I think for every Lab I've lost over the years I also lost a little bit of myself. Now I just don't think I have enough of me left to lose another one.
My best friend and I we had a three boxers. Each one that passed, took a part of us. Neither of us are sure if we could even own a dog again. Our lives have changed now, weβre no longer roommates, and the funny thing isβ¦ She is now a professional dog trainer, and I am a professional dog sitter. So we get to see dogs every day, but we donβt have to suffer the loss of one of our own. Weird how things turned out weβre in two separate states - and yet here we areβ¦ Weβre both doing something with animals! ππ©πβπ¦Ί
I sure hear you. It seems lately I am remembering every great sorrow of my long life with animals. And I have 2 precious ones left and I can't even picture my life going on without them. I'm older than you. And I think part of me has too many broken places already.
Me too; had 3 Alsatians and a retriever. Can't go through the heartache of losing another one. Miss them all so much, but the joyful memories of times we shared keep me going. They live on in our hearts.
