That is actually a thing. I have two or three illegals trying to help me load my truck ever time I shop there. They are looking for work and it is annoying.
My sister who lives in NY state says the same. It's not just Home Depot. She and her husband were harassed in a Costco parking lot.

My local Home Depot has security guards for the first time since its been here in 30 years. Anything that is small-ish is now locked up & you have to get an employee to get it for you.
