How is it illegal to ask about citizenship, since I believe it is illegal to hire a non-U.S. citizen unless they have a legal work visa, green card (is that the same?), or other LEGAL reason to be in the U.S.
When I was a manager at Denny's we could not ask any of these questions. We had to make sure all applications had no extra marks or checks. We could write nothing on an application. I got in trouble on my first day as a server for hugging one of my customers from my last job. The boss looked scared shitless when he told me not to ever hug a customer, I think he gave me more respect after that because he was gay and the customer I hugged was gay. Denny's as far as I can tell stays out of politics, too expensive.

Ask the food company Tyson for current policies of firing local legal citizenry to then hire foreign illegal undocumented workers
ask where the non-binary box is and you're hired
or tell them you are a man that identifies as a woman identify as a man
