The aim is to repent and change your ways.
Not knowingly continue in sin and still expect to be forgiven at the end.
We all fall short, but when you knowingly continue the same behavior and don't change your ways you will be held accountable.
I just love the downvotes from the idiots that think they can continue to sin and never repent.
Where in the Bible does it state if you sin and repent you are forgiven, but if you sin the same way again you are going to Hell?
