Here's the other "non government funded" scientist actually working for a living. ALL science is Gov controlled. There are less than 6 who operate with NO taxpayer funding.
Excellent. Maybe physicists play for real. Goes with the territory, I suspect, attracts serious-minded players who are driven by hard results from methods. Hard to do pseudo-fakery BS among people like that. I grew up with someone who went on to do a PhD Physics, everything to him was brutally literal and deterministic.
Look up Sabine Hossenfelders dismantling of particle physics. Physics is just as infested with fake science in the pursuit of government funding as any other discipline.
Indeed, and the government funded man the peer review (i.e., science by vote) gates. Things that question the science, and thereby threaten receivers of grants, don't make it through the gauntlet.
Unfortunately, in the scramble to publish any penchant toward truth and honesty will run smack into the peer review (i.e., science by vote) gatekeepers. I certainly did, but to a lesser degree since my doctorate was in engineering.
