The notes are right. Europeans have been eating food colored with bugs for CENTURIES. The flour with ground crickets is new. Make your own food. That's the only way you can be 100% sure what's in it.
I agree that the notes are right, with the little difference that the Cochineal Bug, used for the Red colors is used in Europe in food only after 19 century, before that it was used for clothings. So it was not used in food for centuries in Europe. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cochineal
You are exaggerating... end of the 19th century is 1880/1890 that makes it some 160/170 years NOT centuries... You dont say that a guy that lived until 101 years of age that he was centuries old. LOL
When a community note gets posted, it will negatively impact the reach regardless how accurate it is. Even if it's corrected later, the damage is done already.
The note does not appear to everyone until enough sample rate it "high".
Also this works both ways. Pasting community notes on MSM fake news is incredibly useful and more than offsets any limited reach the other direction, because in the end truth always wins.

The 19th century was the 1800s, so Europe has been using insects for food uses for centuries.

Its power to the people. Whenever we find Reader's context that is false we have to keep rating it down.
Ultimately its people vs people rather than some committee in Twitter. This is how it should be, and in an open environment truth always wins.

A molucule of carbohydrate from wheat is IDENTICAL to a molecule of carbohydrate from insects.
The problem is whats EXTRA in the bug stuff. But if you refined bug stuff hard enough, itll be perfectly safe.
