its would seem fair I think in the name of equality.

Wow, excellent point! I think SS, which we were forced to contribute to, should total each individual’s yearly contributions, the interest on those monies over time and divide it by the remaining years of life expectancy and there is your monthly payment. Likewise, we should not be forced to pay for Medicare. How many years of insurance premiums have been paid with little use by healthy people? When you see what EBT foods can be purchased, therein lies the problem. All edibles should not be allowed: pop, energy drinks, frozen prepared foods, canned pastas, candy, chips, pretzels, snacks, anything containing bad seed oils, fried foods, margarine, lunch meats, breads and pastries with corn syrup, fructose, or other sugar content, cereals with the same, any GMO produced foods. Clean up the diet, and you will reduce weight and clean up the sick.
With all the additives put in what we eat today can we even define the difference between food and food-like substance?
Just think, we are GIVING ILLEGAL ALIENS much more than we are paying a legal age, American burger-flipper.
Our Vets are homeless, our elderly can't afford to keep their homes, medicine or even eat - but we have endless money for foreign dictators, terrorists, and invaders.
I suggest rope as the cure.
They take 12.4% of your wages for your working years and then give you less than the federal poverty level back.
Assuming an average lifetime earning potential of about 2.25m (50k x 45years 20-65), that means you individually should have a "bank" of about $279,000 at 65 with no investment or growth whatsoever. At roughly 1,500 per month, they are rationing your pay for 15.5 years of "retirement".
Basically, they are paying you just enough to rent a one bedroom apartment in Bedbugville so that you die early enough that they can run away with the proceeds of your lifetime of working.
Oh, and they tax it. And they charge you for medicare.
Oh, and if you need to go to an old folks' home, this is what they pay them to house, feed, medicate, clean, and care for you - which is why it always seems to be two nurses to 712 patients.
I actually agree that min should be 15/hr and that ssn min should be 2400 a month
Because then it would mean americans on both sides of the age spectrum can have a minimum livable standard of living
The 7 dollar fed minimum is WAY outstripped by cost of living. It hasn't kept up. It should have kept up and increased every single year. It might even should be more than 15 an hour
That's not socialism, it's railing against anarcho-corporatism, anarcho-capitalism and cronyism / fascism because it means that corps have worked with gov to keep that min wage low
If you disagree with me, smart guy, then go full anarcho-capitalist and drop the minimum wage to ZERO and see what happens. 75% of businesses would go out of business because people would all be competing to work at chick fil a which has voluntarily paid 17 an hour and they would withhold their labor by pursuing higher compensation, because doing so would make businesses HAVE to advertise their compensation in order to compete. If they don't publish their wage, people will naturally assume that they are not worth their time. This is why 75% of businesses would go out of business.
people who charge around 7 an hour would end up being bankrupted by constantly training people and having no one at their busienss that knows what they are doing; because other businesses would be competing for labor and end up naturally at the very minimum that people need to make in order to afford the lowest end one person apartment in america.
Very true.
There are a lot less youthful burger flippers than old retirees, thus they can get a wee bit higher wage. If the SS benefits were to be increased to keep up with the burger flippers then EVERYBODY would have to pay higher taxes to make up for the imbalance. Heck I'm gonna get make more as a partime custodian than a full time federal retiree. Yea, I'd like to see my SS increase by a grand a month, but I don't think that will happen any time soon.
Who gets the first 35 cents of every dollar earned? Raise the minimum wage and the govt takes more of the consumers money. Want people to do better, stop taking taxes seems more prudent. Then only the gluttony in D.C suffer.
Some people get 600 a month in SS. Try living on that.
