I prefer the "dumb" versions. It used to be that appliances and other things were designed to last forever but now everything is made with a guaranteed obsolescence so that you are forced to buy new and smarter. We rebel as much as we can...our refrigerator is 35 years old, our washer and dryer is over 25 years old and our cars are circa 2005 and they all work perfectly fine. My husband can fix anything, which helps.
Amen. That is why I keep all the old stuff I can. I never followed shiny objects and didn't want to pay for them. Like front loading washers I see at the curb after 3 years... On and on. I never had any headaches. My husband fixes everything too. I remember growing up having one iron one toaster one refrigerator until I left home!
Ps I purchased a dumb TV when my TV from 2009 broke.
Best Buys insignia brand is half price of a smart TV and was shipped to my door in 2 days. I had to go to Best buy to buy it. Just hooked up my TV antenna and Roku.
