I don't know if we will e er know the truth. All info on the internet's main sources (obviously controlled) explain that there were as many as 1000 camps at one time in Germany, but not all at once.
Even if you had only 100 camps killing only 100 people a day for 4 years (1460 days) that would be more than 14 million.
The thing that I always wondered is how many Nazi soldiers it took to run all of those camps, and wouldn't they have been needed on the front?
Anyway, maybe the truth will come out someday, but how will we know?

There were 22 camps, 16 on the German side and 6 on the Polish side.
This is well-documented. The camps had names and lots and lots of records for every detail of the camp.
The claim of 1,000 camps is a made-up fantasy because they know the numbers don't add up.
