You can hate Elon all you want but his Starlink internet is the best internet connection we’ve ever had and we’re in a very rural area. Rarely goes down, even in really bad thunderstorms.
I concur, we had these guys about a month ago come down our rural road measuring the power lines. I asked them what in the heck they were doing and they said they have to measure how high the line is so they can install fiber optic line. I asked how long will that be and he laughed and said probably never…
Really? I would like to hear more. We have cable and 1gb, but it's not exactly stable. Well, stable as card box holding up your buddy's mom in the rain.
We put our names on a waiting list when Elon first started talking about Starlink. Had to wait about a year, so we were one of the first. The setup is almost idiot proof, the satellite orients itself based on your address, no one comes out and installs the dish. My husband worked from home for 2 years because of Covid and the download speed is phenomenal. We got a deal because we were one of the first to sign up, so I have idea what the price is now compared to other options. The cool thing is that if you traveled with an RV, there’s a version that you can get for that.
After $42.5 Billion spent and 3-years... I'm sure that the corrupt government officials and their friends have been enjoying their free use of taxpayer $$$$$.
Cali has them beat. Ten years ago we started high speed rail construction. The price has swelled to over $120 billion and all we have is a cement span here, a couple of pillars there. Our congressman says it's been calculated that at this rate, it won't be finished before the end of the century.
It's the latest money laundering scheme...my county has a similar grift going on ...as do plenty of others. FiOS and limited distance etc, but Verizon isn't kicking in coin , but they're the ultimate beneficiary here. Too little too late... now that Starlink is viable.
Why does this remindeth me of the Ukrainian defense lines that turned out to be heaps of dragons-teeth NEXT to roads and waterbodies? Could it be that it was cheaper to unload them from a truck, and that it was INCOnvenIEnt to put them accross roads?
Of course, someone bought a luxury car of an apartment in Monaco, in the process.

42.5 billion ...just like the left sock.where did it go ? nooooooooobody knowwwwws
Possibly it's being used to launch all the starlink satellites and build the receivers for us.
They just haven't replaced the old internet yet......
I'm guessing the new internet, has a pepe when you turn it on....

Leave it to the government - should just get cellular routers and give them free WiFi and call it a deal. Like the free Obama Phone.
They used all the wire on the multi billion dollar ev charger program. It's a lot of wire for less than 10 chargers.
...and all of those "charging stations"....
Another Biden failure. Let’s construct a big list of all Biden failures, something that we can publish for the election!
'guess it's up to Elon and his Starlink. Go Elon!
For all we know he is spending that 42 billion right now to build a new internet,...
There's NO money in the coffers...
