when I was 5 I wanted to be a horse, so glad they didn't start transitioning me. Joking aside, I lived in a world filled with imaginary play, make believe, not one of those fantasies had to do with gender or sex, etc. I played homemaker but there was no idea of a spouse, just me with my favorite doll and her clothes and a tiny ironing board with a toy iron that did not work, plastic horses and farm animals, cartoons on saturday morning, and my imagination, I wanted to have 20 horses, I broke rocks open to see the glittery insides. My first crush was when Dad took me to the circus and I could not take my eyes off the trapeze guy, my Dad thought it was so cute. Some boys were nice and some were mean, but I did not think of them as "boyfriends" I kind of knew that those were for later, I knew I was a child. I thought babies came from being married, it was part of the deal. I was allowed to be a child with childs games and imaginations. Found out about the "facts of life" from a friend, and when she told me, I immediatly thought, well, my parents didnt do that, maybe hers did becuase they were Lutheran, but we were roman Catholics and definitely did not do that gross thing. I was 10. I asked my mother and she told me that was not anything to talk about and that was that. Irish Catholic born 1950.
