Anyone who knows mormonism understands "follow the prophet" and the absolutism it engenders. This principle applies to the prophet's lieutenants as a passed on authority.
I’m a member. It’s not quite that simple. There are layers and layers to “follow the prophet.” I’m unvaccinated, yet an active member in leadership position. The “line in the sand” items are principles required for entering the temple. Everything else is more like advice (like getting vaccinated).
Many of my fellow ward members are now okay with the unvaccinated ones & there was a genuine concern about our safety when we didn't get vaccinated.
I didn't see the advice to get vaccinated as one from a prophet speaking for God, but one as a man potentially trying to do what was needed to maintain a 501(c)3 & as a well recognized surgeon who had grown up with the concept of vaccines are needed to save lives. Joseph Smith even said to only follow him when he spoke as a prophet & not a man (I need to find that source, I believe it was in The Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith).
What saddened me for a while was that some of my fellow ward members, that believe the Q drops & are seeking out truth about secret combinations, had such a hard time with a doctor telling everyone to get vaxed. Glad to see them coming back & having good discussions in class & in the halls about what is really going on & about the government conspiracy facts that were discussed broadly in the 80s.
Did you see the txt between Strozk & Page when she asked him if they were "forming their own little secret combination?"
That was during 2016. IIRC during the time when we still had Elders & High Priests as priesthood groups. I couldn't for the life of me get any elders to consider it as something worth paying attention to, though there were a few HP that wondered how much closer that brought us to end times.
I need to go through the Durham Report again to find that quote.

Agreed.

Where is that in the article? What does this even mean?
