Not sure if this is supposed to be "good news". They put the caveat that it doesn't apply to "private acts" whatever that means.
This is actually great news. It leaves door open to prosecute former presidents for the stuff they did, that I am sure does not fall under "official capacity", while also giving future presidents the authority to execute their office without worrying about any prosecutor trying to coerce them with BS.
And thanks to Nancy's shenanigans, it's now precedent to be able to impeach former Presidents after they leave office.
I would say when Big Mike and his husband sodomized children in the White House, that would not be an official act.
Think moving pallets of money to Iran/Syria under a Super top secret classification to be hidden from Congress would be considered as unofficial???
Probably was “unofficial”.
no
Any prosecution over actions during the President's term should be predicated by impeachment in the House and conviction in the Senate, IMHO. That's when the Constitution stipulates prosecution can happen.
The 'rats could have taken this course and then there would have been no need for the SC to get involved. They took the lazy way out and it came back to bite them.
Trump’s devolution and COG maneuvers appear to be unquestionably “official” and safe from rollback now. Deep State cannot undo Trump’s PEADS with this ruling. If immunity was removed Deep State would have tried to ‘vacate’ all actions of his Presidency based on false “foreign agent” claims. Former President prosecution path is tighter, but still open.
