Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Thanks. Libertarians think that it shouldn't be necessary to have a license or insurance to drive, but I question that wisdom.
Does this protect citizens who raise their own chickens and their own vegetable gardens and such?
Idk...imo to travel is a right. If you drive commercial maybe need a license. Back in the day when you ride a horse you don't need a license.. just saying.
In Jersey, you have all these rules and laws for giving out your gardening harvest to your neighbors, raising chickens, needing a permit before you can remodel your own damn property, and they tax property owners everytime it rains. Imagine that. All these stuff will come up they'll go to court, you'll see.
A horse can make judgement calls whereas a car cannot. But, I see what you are saying. Yes, it does get out of hand. A child can't just make a lemonade stand without some government agent shutting the kid down for sellng lemonade without a permit, which would cost far more than any revenue the kid would make by selling the drink. It has gotten out of hand.
No need to make logical reasoning for those things tbh.. these are basic human rights, period. Like breathing oxygen, drinking water, producing own food. If you're from another country and used to obeying authority on everything and not allowed to ask questions and you can't do anything in your own property and pay rent for the land you own, you'd get used to it. You wouldn't think it's wrong to have to ask permission to go fishing in rivers and oceans. God creates everything for us to live on freely. We are God's children, these are our birth rights.
